Valencia goes crackers every year with the amazing Las Fallas festival.  A week-long, giant street party exploding with good times and culminating on the weekend at midnight with the burning of massive statues. 

 

Music, parades, spanish sunshine, fire in all forms and bucketloads of sangria!

A  BIT ABOUT LAS FALLAS FESTIVAL

A few little facts about Las Fallas:

 

* The spectacular festival celebrates the welcoming of a new spring

* Over 400 `fallas´ statues are erected around the city, constructed to represent caricatures of life.

* The Fallas effigies are burnt to a cinder in tribute to St.Joseph, the patron saint of carpenters.

* The Fallas (and the ironies they represent) are put `up in smoke´ for another year. * Rockets booming overhead, billowing clouds of sulphorous smoke, and colossal bonfires on street corners.
