And not only that, but the island itself is so beautiful that ancient mariners likened it to Miranda Kerr's butt in a swimming pool. It's mountainous, the water is as blue as a blue bird's denim shorts and let us not get started on the quality of humanity that's floating around there.

To witness them is to have lava poured through your heart and into you veins and down to your loins. It's like having baby frogs dance on your eyeballs chaperoned by the most elegant of teenage swans. In short, they're babes. The lotta them.

They should rename Ibiza babe island.

It's an overnight ride on a ferry from Barcelona, a ferry that really sets the tone for the days ahead...

We stay in a hotel where the maids have turntables attached to their dust brooms. A hotel where sleep is possible, but not really high on the list of people's priorities, where beds are more likely to be used for wrestles (pants optional), where the elevator isn't the only thing going down.

Where  else?

Where else in the world are your primary concerns trying not to get too much sun and the temperature of the beer? Where each and every day is a cycle of eating, surfing and drinking, and the nights spent partying and chatting and exploring? Where else can you spend your nights in the thumping nightclubs of San Sebastian, but wake up by the beach, surrounded by the verdant Pyrenees mountains? Where else?

Nowhere. This is our little slice of paradise, our flagship destination. It's a combination of the landscape (mountains and beaches baby), the Basque culture, the food, the parties (more bars per square metre than anywhere else in the universe), the waves, the weather (hot, but not deathly so), the mother lovin' lifestyle. Woooh weeeeh, this is the spot.

And that ain't even mentioning our camp. We base all of our camps on the awesomeness of this one. There is nothing for the surfer to do here except enjoy themselves. Your meals are prepared, your beers are purchased and kept cold, your tents are made for you and your party nights pre-organised. Heavenly! And the new friends you'll find there, wonderful! Crew from all over the world, so many different languages and so much to learn from each other over a beer or seventeen.

The basic San Sebastian surf camp package is for twin share camping accommodation and breakfast every morning. Onto the basic package you can add meals, surfboard hire and lessons, as well as our five euro's a day all you can drink beer, wine and sangria deal.

The best way to stay at the San Sebastian Surf Camp. For a mere 50€ a day you can have it all, your cake, and you can even eat it. Surf lessons, 24 hour board hire, three beefy meals a day. Yeah, it's pretty much the best deal in the world.

Euskal Herria.

Is the name of this place in the local language. Pais Vasco, Pays Basque, the Basque Country. The elbow of the French and Spanish Atlantic coastline is an area filled with culture and natural beauty. Home to Europe's oldest language, it's most sturdy people, and some of the most incredible vistas your eyes have ever had the pleasure of taking in.

San Sebastian is the jewel on this coastline, the coolest of Spanish seaside resorts (the Queen built her summer palace here, it's just gotta rule), as yet untainted by the filthy mitts of mass European tourism (hordes of drunken sunburnt Britts, Dutch and Germans? No thanks!). Here the European, and indeed global, youth come to play, party and surf under the sun. This is a city with more Michelin stars than any other city in the world, bar Paris, and with a population of a mere 400 000 or so, wowee, these kids love to dine well. And after? They say San Sebastian has more bars in its Old Town than any other city in Europe, and considering that every second shop is a bar, well, they just ain't wrong.

The surf camp is located at Zarautz, 15kms along the coast from San Sebastian on the region's most famous surf beach (every year the world's best surfers do battle here in a World Series event). We put our wonderful camp on the headland at the far east of beach, the perfect vantage point to drink a few sangrias and watch the sun extinguish itself in the Atlantic, every life-lovin' evening.

Zarautz and San Sebastian are connected by local buses, which run super regularly.

You want to fly to either Bilbao, or Biarritz. Check Ryanair, Easyjet and Vueling for cheap deals. There's plenty of cheap deals. We love cheap deals.

If you fly to Bilbao you can get a bus directly from the airport to Zarautz, buses leave from the front of the airport at 7am, 11:30am, 3:30pm and 8:30pm

If you land outside of these times there is an hourly bus to San Sebastian city centre. Once there the local bus to Zarautz leaves from the street outside very same bus station. And the local train that connects San Sebastian to Zarautz is right there too! Follow the  "by bus" or "by train" details outlined below.

Do you provide transport from Zarautz?

Yes, we fetch you from Zarautz station, so make your way there and call us when you know what time you'll be arriving. 

What is the breakfast like? 

Breakfast is usually the good ol' Aussie toad-in-a-hole .... translation: egg cooked in a hole in a piece of toast. Yum! Sometimes we mix it up and have another sort of eggy mix, but whatever it is, it will be warm and will go down well after a big night.

It is said on the website that it is a twin tent. Can it fit two people?

Yes, the twin tents are two-man tents. We have two-man and three-man tents, so if you are a group of 3, you can all tent together. Just let us know your preferences when you book. We also have an option to have a private tent for a small additional fee - just in case you don't want to share.... or if you want leave space for the hottie you're going to meet at our campsite..... just saying... 

And what amenities are offered at the camp site?

The campsite is awesome! It is right by the beach, there is a cafe/restaurant, a little shop, hot showers, laundry area, parking, drinkable water, plus we have our own party/dance floor area. 

Are there lockers where we can put our passports or other important items?

The campsite itself has no lockers, but we have a giant container which gets locked every night and we can put small valuables in there during the festival and when we're away from the campsite. 

2 of us are vegans, do you cater for this?

We cater for vegetarians, so we can always just remove the animal-product bits of that and stuff you to the brim with fruits and veggies and starches.....whatever we do, we'll make a plan for you. 

What is the name of the camp site we are staying at?

The campsite's name is Gran Camping Zarautz. It's an awesome campsite right near the beach but away from the overpopulated tourist beaches. 

What is the night life like in Zarautz? 

The nightlife in Zarautz is a lot of fun. We also run complimentary buses into the centre of San Sebastian frequently for our twice weekly beach BBQ's that we put on in a nightclub there. The nightlife at our campsite, with about 1000 partiers, is also a lot of fun. Open bars can have that effect! 

How much would a Taxi be from the camp site to San Sebastian?

Taxi's between San Sebastian city centre and the campsite on Zarautz beach cost around 20 euros. There is also very simple public transport for 2 euros.

A day at the San Sebastian Surf Camp.

This is a guide itinerary with everything in the all inclusive package. Times are a guide only, and bear in mind that the beauty of this camp is that you can do whatever you like, whenever you like, your way.

8am - wake up.

8:30 - yoga

11am - 2 hours of surf lessons (time varies depending on conditions and tides)

Where do the buses from Barcelona leave from and at what time? 

The buses leave from Plaza Catalunya in front of the Hard Rock Cafe. The Bus to Bulls overnight trip will leave in the afternoon at 3pm and the Weekend trip will leave at 4pm.

Are the shuttles to and from the Bulls included in the price?  How frequently do they run?

Yes, all-inclusive includes it all. The only extra costs will be for lunches and dinner every second night. We run shuttles every morning at the crack of dawn to get to the first bull-run, except the 6th, which is the opening day where there is no run, so we head in around 9:30am. There are also shuttles going in in the late arvo/eve for the epic parties in Pamplona's streets. 

Do you provide transport from Zarautz?

Yes, you absolutely do. You can fly into Barcelona in time for the Weekend trips which depart on 6th and 13th July and return 8th and 15th July consecutively. You can also do the Bus to Bulls trip from Barcelona, which leaves on Friday 6th and 13th July and returns to Barcelona in the afternoon the next day.

Pamplona's San Fermin Festival events are as follows:

  This day is different from the rest of the festival. 
• 12noon - The opening ceremony which is also know as t he Chupinazo. 
• 11pm - Fireworks, partying. These are the constants of the festival
• July 7-14 
  Every day has the same schedule:
  • 8am -The running of the bulls happens. 
  • 6.30pm - Bullfights happen in the city's arena with the bulls that were running that morning. 
  • 11pm - The party continues!

It's a wine fight homey!

In an ancient vineyard, on an even more ancient hill in this anciently ancient part of Spain, on one morning of the year, every year since the beginning of time (more or less) there has been an epic battle.

A battle so fierce that the vineyard and surrounding hillsides turn red, so violent that the weary and wounded stumble away from the fighting, covered from head to toe in what seems to be, and indeed is, blood.

Blood. Blood from goddamn delicious grapes, my liver swelling friends. This is the wine fight, La Batalla de Vino de Haro, our favourite festival. For a few hours on the 29th of June we take advantage of a bottomless supply of red wine and throw it on each other, on friend and stranger alike. And then, when it's all done, we wipe the wine off us and we head back down the mountain, pickled, as it were, in delicious red wine.

But the fight isn't it. The night before the night the wine making village of Haro goes crazy with street parties and bar hopping, dancing and chatting and eating delicious food until the sun comes up - just in time to take part in the wine fight.

This festival has yet to be discovered by the hordes of foreigners like some in Spain, and at the moment Stoke Travel is the only travel group that LOVES partying enough to see a wine fight as an essential part of our portfolio. This is just us and the locals, and they are so happy to see us, so interested in who we are and where we come from, that it just really warms our hearts and livers to a state where hardcore partying is the ONLY OPTION!

Meet us in San Sebastian.

Or combine the Wine Fight with the surf camp. Our buses run from San Sebastian, via the surf camp and onwards to Haro, a journey of about 2.5 hours.

La Rioja is the numéro uno wine making district of Spain. If you've been lucky enough to find a bottle of La Rioja in your hands you'll know what we're talking about! The battle takes place on a hillside vineyard just outside the village of Haro, which is a 2.5 hour coach trip from San Sebastian, a coach trip fuelled mostly by wine drinking and singing along.

Aeroplanes rule da skies.

You want to fly to either Bilbao, or Biarritz. Check Ryanair, Easyjet and Vueling for cheap deals. There's plenty of cheap deals. We love cheap deals.

From Bilbao there are regular buses to San Sebastian, just catch one fool!

To get to San Sebastian from Biarritz International Airport take a French SNCF train to Hendaye, change to the nearby Euskotren station (located just outside the SNCF station) and take a Euskotren to San Sebastian. Each train ride is between 30-40 minutes, with the total train trip cost less than €10. A coach service also exists between Biarritz airport and the Hendaye train station, via Saint-Jean-De-Luz (change buses there). The coach ride is less than one hour and costs about €4.

We're goin' on a Surfing Surfari.

You ever hear that song Surfing Surfari? It was by the Beatles, or the Beach Boys, or some other group of fossils, not sure, but it had a real good message.

"Let's go surfin' now, everybody's learnin' how, come on a surfari with me"

Think about it, about the concept, the wonders of a surf trip, combined with the adventure of a safari. Traveling up and down the coast hunting WAVES! Doesn't that just sound wonderballs!?

Well, we put one together. Kinda, well, as put together as an off the cuff surf trip can possibly be.

Let us explain. We have this bus, right? And this big stretch of surfing coast spanning Spain and France, gottit? And so what we're going to do is cruise up and down the coast looking for waves. And we're going to sleep in whichever town we found waves in, and in the morning we're going to head off, taking in the best towns, beaches, tourists attractions and parties this part of the world has to offer. Pretty cool huh!?

It's such a simple, yet rad concept. We'll be exploring good chunks of Spain and France, which are totally different countries, like duh, and have different languages and food and that kind of STUFF, they also have completely different beaches, waves, vibes, even climate! And you can experience both in a week. 

What better way to experience these two must-do locations than on a surfboard!? Y'all know we just adore tourism, and site seeing rules, but there aint nothing finer than whiling away the hours doing not so much parked on a beautiful European beach.

The awful details.

We'll be starting our Surfari in Spain or France, cruising up and down the coast, surfing wherever the waves are the best. We will stop in Biarritz in France for parties, or maybe Hossegor to rub shoulders with the European surfing elite. We'll be surfing wherever the waves are the best, we'll spend off days exploring the Pyrenees, if it seems like the right thing to do, or we'll be eating in the cider houses behind San Sebastian (and drinking a little cider too). 

Basically we'll be chasing the waves and the biggest kicks. At the end of the days we'll retreat to whichever campsite is the closest, set up the tents and cook dinner. We'll drink some beers and trade stories. We'll decide whether we want to go and party, or not, and once the night is done, whichever we chose to do we know we'll be waking up and cruising the coast looking for more waves.

Who wants to be an ingredient in the world's largest spaghetti bolognaise?

Or perhaps you want to spread yourself around like a bruschetta?

In any case, it's going to get pulpy, saucy and it's going to be a hooty whale of a time. This is one of the 'must do' European festivals and definitely one of Stoke Travel's faves. 

We dig it so much because when we ain't hurling tomatoes at each other we're chilling by the pool, sunning on the beach, dancing up a storm in Valencia city, or losing our mind in fun related incidents at one of the other festivals that take place this time of year.

The festival itself is one morning of madness, tens of thousands of people in a town of many less, the streets are packed and the get even more so with the arrival of trucks carrying tomatoes, many tonnes of tomatoes.

Once we avoid getting squashed by the trucks the fight begins, and for the next little while we throw salad fruits to our hearts content at strangers, friends, locals and tourists alike. Once it's all said and done, we rinse off, and head out to continue partying.

It's so wonderful!

We at Stoke Travel truly love this time of year in Valencia, and make sure we have as much fin as is humanly possible. Who doesn't want a piece of that?

This is what it is all about. While the whole world knows about the tomato fight, the other two festivals are much more obscure (we're the only tourists at one of them) and a whole tonne of fun.

Where the Wild Oranges roam.

We stay just north of Valencia city, in a beach town called Puzol (Puçol in the local lingo). Puzol is well connected to Valencia city, and we have our own private shuttles for the festivals, and for visits to town. Puzol is located on a stretch of beautiful Mediterranean beaches and every year we arrive and blow the town's collective mind.

Our camp is beachside. It's not wild in the slightest, with full-time security, a bar, restaurant and shop onsite, a great swimming pool with slide, clean amenities, great authentic Spanish atmosphere (it's not uncommon to be invited into a family's caravan for a meal of authentic local paella).

And there is so much more to the region outside the festivities! Valencia has a wonderful old walled city, great modern architecture, clubs, restaurants, beaches, bars. It's just wonderful! Come and see it! You're going to love it! We just adore it! Ooooh.

Aeroplanes are fast.

They're the only way to travel through the sky. Helicopters are ok, but too noisy and blimps and hot air balloons simply take forever...

Fly to Valencia and then make your way to our camp. A train will take you into the city centre (Estación del Norte) from the airport and another train from there to Puçol. From Puçol we pick you up, yeah buddy.

Training Wheels.

It was once considered glamorous to travel by train. These days it's merely considered to be faster, yet more expensive, than buses and slower, but often cheaper, than planes.

Same deal. Estación del Norte is the main station. Just get a ride to there, jump on a local train to Puçol and we do the rest.

Bussel Sprouts.

Buses take you places.

Same. Just make sure you get a ride to Valencia and not somewhere else, like Palencia, which is on the other side of Spain, but presumably full of pals.

A little hint.

You buy your ticket to Puzol (Puçol) from the Main Hall of Estación del Norte. They cost 2 bucks, which is bubblegum money. There are two ticket counters, one air-conditioned glass box that sells long distance trips and one right smack bang in the middle of the main hall that sells short journeys. Puçol is just up the road from Valencia, so make sure you sweat it out in the main hall, ok? The ticket waitress will tell you the platform. 

Just try and remember the sunglassed twit Bono when he sung "Uno, dos, tres, catorce", which translates to "1,2,3,14". Huh?

Where do the buses from Barcelona leave from and at what time? 

The buses leave from Plaza Catalunya in front of the Hard Rock Cafe. The day trip leaves at 4am and returns at 4pm on the day of Tomatina. The Ride with Us trip will leave in the afternoon at 4pm.

Are the shuttles to and from Tomatina and the other two fests included in the price? 

Yes, all-inclusive includes it all. The only extra costs will be on lunches and dinner every second night. 

Do you provide transport from Valencia centre?

No, but getting to Pucol from Valencia is easypeasy and we pick you up from the train station there. Just let us know when you are on the train from Valencia's central station to Pucol and we'll jump in the car and head over. See how to get there details for more info. 

What is the breakfast like? 

Breakfast is usually the good ol' Aussie toad-in-a-hole .... translation: egg cooked in a hole in a piece of toast. Yum! Sometimes we mix it up and have another sort of eggy mix, but whatever it is, it will be warm and will go down well with a Bloody Mary.

Do we have the option of flying into Barcelona and taking one of your
buses to the camp site outside of Valencia? 

Yes, you absolutely do. You can fly into Barcelona in time for the Ride With Us trip which departs on 28th August and returns 1 Sept. You can also do the Day Trip from Barcelona, which leaves early in the morning on the day of Tomatina (29th August) and returns to Barcelona late afternoon. You can also book a transfer from Barcelona for 50€. It just depends whether you can get cheaper flights to Barcelona or Valencia and if the difference will be less than taking one of our shuttles. 

It is said on the website that it is a twin tent. Can it fit two people?

Yes, the twin tents are two-man tents. We have two-man and three-man tents, so if you are a group of 3, you can all tent together. Just let us know your preferences when you book. We also have an option to have a private tent for a small additional fee - just in case you don't want to share.... or if you want leave space for the hottie you're going to meet at our campsite..... just saying... 

And what amenities are offered at the camp site?

The campsite is awesome! It has a giant pool, a playground, a cafe/restaurant, a little shop, hot showers, laundry area, parking, drinkable water, and it's a five minute walk from the beach. 

Are there lockers where we can put our passports or other important items?

The campsite itself has no lockers, but we have a giant container which gets locked every night and we can put small valuables in there during the festival and when we're away from the campsite. 

If someone throws a tomato at my head can I kick them?

Only if you kick them hard in the shins.

Will the tomato be good for my skin?

Yes, but not the skin on your drum kit.

If we are camping does that mean we'll be attacked by wild animals?

We serve unlimited alcohol at our camps. You, my friend, will be the wild animal.

Which means drink you little legends. This festival is unashamedly about drinking beer, and we think that's absolutely wonderful! Oktoberfest has long traditions steeped in....beer, has long been the global benchmark in....beer and, well, beer, beer, beer.

But it's not just beer, unless you really want it to be. Our Oktoberfest is all about traditional dress (that make babes look even more babe-ish) and the finest of meaty treats, and dancing to Oompah bands and the giant sideshow with roller coasters and just being a part of the world's largest fair.

Beer just makes it oh so sweeter.

What's Stoketoberfest?

We have the biggest party outside of the beer halls everyday of the festival. With Stoke Travel you know you are always coming home to friendly faces (by the hundreds), plenty of beer, great music and delicious BBQs. We are also experts at the festival, and have been known to be the loosest, craziest, partiest people in the beer halls.

We call Stoke Travel's trips the unforgettable trips that you probably won't remember. This is because for an extra 5€ a day we serve you all the beer (or sangria) that you want. We call them 'welcome drinks'.

The Stoke campground is just 10 minutes away from the madness. We have daily shuttles between the campsite and the Oktoberfest. 2 person tents & mattresses (with sleeping bags) are set up for your arrival. Just dump your stuff inside and grab a beer.We serve you up hearty breakfasts, and every 2nd day we fire up the BBQ, and make a party of it. No worries if you are vegetarian.

Pilots are the only sober people here (we hope).

Of course it's efficient.

All trains entering Munich come in to the city's centrally-located main station (Hauptbahnhof), which is shared by the city's rail and bus systems, providing connections to all destinations within the city and around the region. High-speed InterCity Express (ICE) trains from Hamburg, Frankfurt and Augsburg provide rapid service to Munich. The City Nightline (CNL) features comfortable sleeping quarters on its overnight services. The Deutsche Bahn has more than 25,000 miles of track, connecting all points in Germany, with international service as well. To view their timetable, you can visit the website.  If your travel originates in the UK, British Rail has four daily scheduled trains to Munich, with journey duration of around 9 hours and including a ferry connection. From Zurich, there is daily service on the train called the Bavaria.

Once you're at the Hauptbahnhof,  jump on the underground (S2) in the direction of Peterhausen. Jump off at Untermenzing. Right outside the station take the bus for 3 stops to Campingplatz Obermenzing. Just ask the driver or have a look on the bus route map.  Easy peasy!

Buses are the bestest.

You can travel by bus to Munich from London, Paris and many other European cities. The largest bus operator from the UK to the continent is Eurolines, operating out of London's centrally located Victoria Coach Station. In Paris, Eurolines is located on rue Malmaison, a 35-minute Metro ride from the centre. In Munich, bus services usually terminate at the Zentraler Busbahnhof, which you will find on the north side of the Hauptbahnhof.

Not really our style, we hear you think.

Not true, really not true. We dig sports. We love participating in them, we love watching. We especially love participating in them, or watching them, and partying before, after or during.

That's why the Olympics are really our style. Because not only are they entertaining to watch because of the sport, but also because everyone is there to party.

But these events are some of the most touristed events in the world, and the average attendee isn't really within Stoke's demographic. The accommodation prices are too high!

But not anymore.

And that aint even being cute. This time of year London actually is sunny, and for a whole chunk of the day, like 20 hours or something. Isn't that just grand?

And the campsite is located in a 19-hectare green field in Walthamstow London, E17 8AX and will be transformed for 19 days into one of the largest campsites that London has seen. Its central London location is just 4 miles from the heart of the city and a 5-10 minute shuttle bus ride from the Olympic Park.

First you got to get to the island.

The British Isle, that is. And then make your way to London, which is easy because all roads lead there.

Travelling from Heathrow Airport

Take the Piccadilly line to Green Park station. Change onto the Victoria line towards Walthamstow Central. Get off at Walthamstow Central (end of the line) and take the W19 bus towards Walthamstow. Get off at the Low Hall Manor Business Centre. Journey time: 1 hour 20 minutes

Travelling from Stansted Airport

Take the Stansted Express train to London Liverpool Street. Take National Express East Anglia towards Chingford Rail Station. Get off at St James Street and walk or take the W19 bus to the site. Journey time: 1 hour 6 minutes.

Travelling from Gatwick Airport

Take the Gatwick Express to Victoria. Change onto the Victoria line towards Walthamstow Central. Get off at Walthamstow Central (end of the line) and take the W19 bus towards Walthamstow. Get off at the Low Hall Manor Business Centre. Journey time: 1 hour 10 minutes

Travelling from Luton Airport
