The Rise of the Festival Stag Do

Festivals come in all shapes and sizes – from the customary music festival to tomato fights in the street, need for speed formula 1 weekends and all you can drink beer folk festivals, – you’ll find something to suit every stag! For many grooms, the stag do is the thing they look forward to most (sometimes even more than the wedding itself) which is why we’re giving you the lowdown on all the best fiestas, festivals and fests in the world!

Festivals are brilliantly versatile with some that last just a day, and those that last the better part of a month; making festivals great for your stag weekend as you can jump in and out of the festivities as much as you want (or at least as much as your liver can take) with plenty of time for traditional stag antics!

Music Festival

If you’ve got a stag with a love of music, then he’ll be stoked when the festival tickets arrive! Especially when it’s for Sziget Festival in Budapest, one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe… think Glastonbury’s European cousin. Attracting almost 400,000 fans from over 70 countries it provides a complete festival holiday experience with non-stop parties, amazing live concerts and all the touristic features that this incredible city can offer. The line-up mixes mainstream acts with fine art, light installations and circus performances. This summer Sziget promises acts from Bastille, Muse, David Guetta, Years & Years and The Lumineers, as well as a bunch of smaller gigs which run into every conceivable genre from metal to folk and jazz.

Alternatively, if house music is more his thing, then Sonar Festival in Barcelona has to be the one. Featuring forward-thinking talent with some of the world’s biggest names in electronic dance music over three days (and nights) spreading across all areas of the city, Sonar is continually reinventing what a music festival can be. Split into two parts of Sonar by Day and Sonar by Night, you’re not going to be let down! The Chemical Brothers, Skrillex, Jamie XX, Hot Chip and Massive Attack have all performed on Sonar’s stages and confirmed already for 2016 is Skepta, James Blake, New Order and Stormzy. Oh, and it has high speed Wi-Fi throughout its venues!
