Bulls, Barça, Barrels

Barcelona | Running of the Bulls | San Sebastian Surf Camp

4th - 13th July 2017

Bulls, Barça, Barrels 2017

The three Bs, the best of the Iberian peninsular, this road trip takes you through the north of Spain on an adrenaline infused mad dash, that begins in Barcelona, the Catalan capital and one of the world’s greatest cities, home to your favourite football team, Barça. After a few nights of tapas, Europe’s beautiful people and maybe a game of football, we head to Pamplona and witness and perhaps participate in the world’s most (in)famous Spanish fiesta, San Fermines, or the running of the bulls. After we’ve tested ourselves in the party and the run we head down to the San Sebastian surf camp, for some days spent either lazing under the sun, or shredding in the surf. With Bulls, Barça and Barrels, the best of northern Spain was your oyster, now what’s next?

Tuesday 4th July: Barcelona
Check in to your hostel in Barcelona and meet your Stoke guide and new buddies. It’s the Fourth of July, baby! A reason to party for all Americans and anybody else who likes to get spangled. We’ve got a boat party on this afternoon, up and down the Catalan Coast, unlimited drinks and American college students getting lit, spring break style (€42 per person, let us know if you would like to reserve your spot). Then it’s to the many bars and beach clubs, and don’t worry, we know where to go and we’ve already organised your free entry.

Wednesday 5th July: Barcelona
Recovery mode with a big breakfast, on the house. See some sights on a walking tour, where you’ll get to know the secrets of Barcelona, and stop at some bars, if that’s what you need. This is one of the world’s great cities, full of art and architecture, culture and sport, and nightlife. That’s right, nightlife. Are you ready to go again? Because round two awaits. Free club entry again tonight.

Thursday 6th July: Barcelona
Barcelona, the perfect place to lay on the beach and admire the beautiful people. To shop. To eat, or drink, or to just walk around. Maybe you want to do a little more, like kayaking and snorkelling up the coast, or a bike tour. We got you if you’re keen on one of these add-ons. And tonight? Well, it’d be rude to not party again, wouldn’t it?

Friday 7th July: Pamplona
Check out of your hostel and sleep on the bus on your way to Pamplona. You won’t make this day’s bull run – don’t worry – but you will check into the Stoke Camp, get your unlimited beer and sangria wristband, have some unlimited beer and sangria, join the day’s runners in Stoke Travel’s own central Pamplona bar, check out the city’s sights, and join us for dinner, drinks and dancing at the Stoke Camp at the end of the day. Tomorrow’s a big one for you.

Saturday 8th July: Pamplona
Up early and into town for the bull run. Whether you’re taking place or not, whether you’re morally opposed to it or not, you’ve got to check it out while you’re here. Our campsite buses will take you into town (for €5 return), and our guides will bring you to the bull run, if you’re in it for a thrill, or to the bullfight arena if you just want to see juvenile bulls take down drunks (nobody gets hurt except for the drunks and their ego). There are no bullfights until the evening, so don’t worry – you won’t see death unless you really want to. That night party at camp, again, or in town, or in your own pants.

Sunday 9th July: Pamplona
Did you run yesterday and want to run again today? Do it! Did you not run yesterday, but everyone said that you totalllly should have, so now you’re going to run today? How cool! Maybe you ran yesterday and realised that it’s incredibly stupid and never want to do anything like that again.. You’re not alone. The point is, the Tuesday is a day to do the crazy San Fermines dance all over again. Run, don’t run; party, don’t party — Pamplona is your oyster, and with all your great new friends from Stoke you’re guaranteed to find that oyster to be delicious.

Monday 10th July: Zarautz
Smash your last breakfast at camp and roll on the bus to Zarautz, on the other side of the mountains and by the sea, where the view will make your eyes weep and the beer is always cold (we have wine, too, if you still want wine, you purple little legends). Afternoon surf? 100% And our professional and professionally fun surf guides will make sure you get the lessons you need for your level, as well as guide you into the best waves. Boards and lessons are included in the price, and once you’ve filled your face with salt water and your hair with sand we’ll retreat back to the campsite for a kickass camp party.

Tuesday 11th July: Zarautz
Rise with the sun coming over the Basque Pyrenees and check the surf. The morning wind still hasn’t come up, and the air is warm. Breakfast is consumed with talk of the day’s conditions and your guides are working out the best spot for you. Hit the beach with your lunch packed and settle in for a day of surfing, sunning and beach gaming, a day where your eyes will be assaulted by the naked and semi-naked sun worshippers in a positive and negative way. That night you can see the locals with clothes on when we head down into town to drink the local drinks and dance the local dances.

Wednesday 12th July: Zarautz
Surf’s up, again… So let’s hit the sand and shred. Or perhaps you want to go into San Sebastian and take selfies from all the vantage points and eat all the delicious tapas. Back at camp, after today’s session(s), we’ll retreat to the hillside where we can watch the sun dip her fiery toes into the Bay of Biscay. Millions of beers and sangrias optional and included (if you want to part with the €10 a day surcharge aka the best deal in the universe).

Thursday 13th July: Finale
Check out is at 11 after breakfast that is. Now you’re free to go where ever you want. Those waves still calling your name? Stay and surf a little longer…

  • Brilliant Barcelona.

The home of Gaudi, Dali, the 1992 Olympics, FCB and the French Bulldog.

It’s a tourist Mecca. Thousands upon millions upon billions of sun-seeking, fun-loving revellers flock here every year and there’s a bloody good reason for it. It’s because Barcelona is awesome. It has a bit of everything, but still retains a small city vibe. The nightlife is nothing less than hectic and intense, the day life is a myriad of colours, sites, sounds, smells, street performers and sangria.

It’s a place you’ve just gotta see. And we’re pretty much experts… if we do say so ourselves… so we’ll show you Barcelona from the Stoke point of view.

    Pamplona Campsite

We camp just 10 minutes from the Running of The Bulls festivities in Pamplona. The Campsite Bus Service will take you to the centre and back for €5. Our Bulls Camp is located within the grounds of Camping Ezcaba and is exclusively for the “cool kids” joining Stoke Travel’s Running of the Bulls Trip. Our Exclusive area is complete with kitchen, chill out area, hammocks, DJ booth and stage and Stoke’s infamous entertainment and Crew. Within the campsite grounds there’s also a swimming pool, wifi, laundry and other facilities.

    Zarautz

We stay 20 minutes outside of San Sebastian at a beautiful clifftop campsite overlooking the surf beach of Zarautz.
As far as surf goes, well we’re only a hop skip and a jump away from the finest surf beaches in Europe. And if National Geographic says we’re located in one of the World’s Top 20 Surf Towns, well who are we to dispute it!

  • COME FLY TO US…

Wherever you are in the world you can fly to Barcelona. Ryanair and Easyjet are budget favourites that fly to Barcelona regularly. Once you’re at the airport just hop on the Aerobus and it frops you off in the centre of Barcelona in just 30 minutes! One thing to remember is that Girona Airport which is sometimes the cheapest option is an hour by bus from downtown Barcelona.

    CHOO CHOO TRAIN

A great option if you’re coming to Barcelona from elsewhere in Spain, or from France. Check out Renfe for trains from within Spain and snfc for those departing within France.

    BUSES ARE FOR LEGENDS

Check Eurolines for international buses to Barcelona, or Vibasa for buses from within Spain.

  • What should I bring?
Sunglasses and sunscreen as it gets pretty hot, a pillow and torch for your tent, goggles, condoms, a waterproof camera, swimmers to have a dip in the pool afterwards, old shoes that can be thrown out after the madness, and shampoo if you don’t want your hair stained red for the next month. Oh and don’t forget a towel.

    What is the breakfast like?

Breakfast is bacony and eggy and delicious. Sometimes there’a pancake or two thrown in for good measure. Our chefs are pretty fricking good at food.

It said on the website that it is a twin tent. Can it fit two people?
Yes, the twin tents are two-man tents. We have two-man tents, so if you are in a group of three, one of you will be tented with a new friend of the same sex. Tents are allocated on arrival, so just let us know your preferences when you arrive. We also have an option to have a private tent for a small additional fee – just in case you don’t want to share…. or if you want to leave space for the hottie you’re going to meet at our campsite… You never know…

Are there lockers where we can put our passports or other important items?
The campsite itself has no lockers, but we a campervan which gets locked every night and we can put small valuables in there during the festival and when we’re away from the campsite.

If we are camping does that mean we’ll be attacked by wild animals?
We serve unlimited alcohol at our camps. You, my friend, will be the wild animal.

Are these questions really the most frequently asked?
No, but if you have any specific questions you must email info@stoketravel.com – the guys in the office know absolutely everything about anything.
