Semana Grande San Sebastián 2018

San Sebastian

11th - 18th August

Celebrate Life At Semana Grande Festival 2018

Semana Grande is a week of crazy street parties jam-packed with concerts, from rock to pop and classical to jazz, in the picturesque Basque town San Sebastián. This trip includes dorm-style accommodation at Stoke’s Surf House, three hearty meals per day, 2 hours of surf instruction, surf equipment hire, pintxo tours, local activities and party nights!

The land of pintxo and cider, with its rolling hills, beautiful beaches and inclement weather, is an idyllic location for Semana Grande San Sebastián 2018, hosted by friendly locals who know how to throw a party. We’ll drink, we’ll dance, we’ll watch fireworks displays, we’ll kiss strangers under the stars and we’ll celebrate being alive at the ‘Big Week’ of the Basque.

Semana Grande Festival and San Sebastian Surf Camp

San Sebastián is every surfer’s paradise, and our surf camp which is held during the Semana Grande Festival is created for the best of both worlds. Let our in-house chef tantalise your taste buds, and our awesome team chill your beers, so all that’s left to do is cheers. Your party nights are pre-organised and your beds ready for a post-party crash, plus all the new friends you’ll make here will be just wonderful! Each year brings an open-minded group of folk from all over the world, so it’s a chance to learn each other’s lingo and share stories over a beer or seventeen. Every surf level is welcome, from beginners to the most accomplished surf dudes and dudettes. For beginners or those looking to improve, our fun and friendly surf instructors will be holding surf lessons daily, which are included. Where else in the world are your primary concerns trying not to get too much sun and the temperature of the beer? Where else can you spend your nights in the trendy nightclubs of San Sebastián, but wake up in nature surrounded by verdant hills, rustling leaves and twittering birds? Book here for a week of Basque bliss.

  • San Sebastian, our slice of paradise…

This is a guide itinerary with everything in the all inclusive package. But the beauty of staying at the Surf camp is that you can do whatever you like, whenever you like, your way.

Wake up to a delicious cooked breakfast whether it be pancakes, bacon and eggs or a ham & cheese omelette.  Head to the beach to wash away the headaches (and mistakes) of the night before. A couple of hours of surfing, (with instructors of course) relaxing, soaking up the sun and playing beach games.
Once we’ve built up enough of an appetite, it’s back to the closest camp to fill up on a tasty lunch prepared by our in-house chef and maybe, just maybe, brave that first icy cold beer of the day.

There are tonnes of different activities in the surrounding region to keep everyone occupied. We can head into San Sebastian to its famous pintxos bars, go on free walking tours, go horse riding, paragliding, on wine tasting tours or simply head to the beach for more surfing, or enjoy the sunshine from our terrace in all its glory.
Finish your afternoon activities with a cider on the hill, watching the sunset and then enjoy a big hearty dinner to line the stomach.

    Day time activities:
Surfing, volleyball, skateboarding, exploring the town, swimming, sun baking, fishing, cliff jumping, drinking beer, and much more.

    Night time activities:
Party nights in San Sebastian, movie nights, dinners in our favourite restaurants in the area and visiting the many festivals that dot the region in summer.

  • Yo surfer dudes, chuck your thoughts and questions in the Ask a Question Tab and we’ll put up a helpful answer here…

    What should we bring?
Warm clothes to sleep in, sunscreen, sunnies, condoms (better safe than sorry!), a torch, a pillow, beachwear, something to party in, a towel.

    What is the breakfast like?
We like to mix it up: banana pancakes, ham, cheese & mushroom omelettes, poached eggs with bacon and occasionally french toast. Veggo’s, no worries we cater for you too.

2 of us are vegans, do you cater for this?
We cater for vegetarians, so we can always just remove the animal-product bits of that and stuff you to the brim with fruits and veggies and starches…..whatever we do, we’ll make a plan for you.

What is the night life like in San Seb?
The nightlife in San Seb is a lot of fun and deceptive. You go out for a few pintxos and a couple of bottles of cider and come back at 5am with little memory of the blur of a night you’ve just had in the many little bars and clubs of the town, but damned sure that you had the best time of your life.

Is all of the surfing equipment available to rent from you?
We provide short boards, long boards, foam boards and rashies for our guests. Wetsuits and other gear can be rented on the beach.
