Springfest 2019

Munich, Germany | 18 April - 7 May 2019

SPRINGFEST 2019: BEERS & BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE

Known as Frühlingsfest in German, Springfest is Munich’s other beer festival. Sometimes referred to as “Oktoberfest’s Little Sister”, Springfest features the same big, strong German beers, delicious food and festive atmosphere – just in April/May, not September/October. Stoke Travel’s all-inclusive Springfest packages include: Springfest entry, a stay in pre-erected twin tents with mattresses and sleeping bags, a tasty breakfast each morning, a hearty wholesome dinner each evening, awesome Stoke Travel campsite parties, guides to direct you to the beer halls and an international crowd!

SPRINGFEST: GERMANY’S OTHER BEER FEST

The crowds aren’t quite as big as they are for Oktoberfest, but that doesn’t mean that Springfest is any less fun. Springfest attracts 100s of thousands of beer-loving partiers – most of them from Munich and Germany, meaning that the crowd is more authentic and with less tourists than Oktoberfest. This means the waiting time for beers is drastically shorter, plus the locals will be very happy to party with you. Also, as the party is in Spring we can expect warmer weather, which is why Springfest is more focused on outside, beer-garden style drinking. Sitting in the sun enjoying the world’s best beer with your new German friends? Das ist gut!

In addition to the delicious and pure German beer, Springfest also features the world’s best beer-drinking food, carnival rides to test your stomach, and some features unique to the party – like the huge flea market, where the beer will help you make some impulse buys, and fireworks displays of an evening.

FRÜHLINGSFEST 2019 WITH STOKE TRAVEL

The Germans call Springfest Frühlingsfest, and we call our campsite Stoketoberfest, the second best party in Munich this April and May. Stoketoberfest is Stoke Travel’s campsite and party, a festival within a festival located in Munich city and many travellers’ favourite part of the event. In addition to being where you sleep, eat and get ready for the beer halls, Stoketoberfest is a wild party, a stage show featuring DJs and live bands, an open bar, a place to buy your traditional dirndls and lederhosen, where drinking games are happening during every waking hour and the dancefloor never seems to stop, filled with like-minded travellers from all over the world. Our packages are all inclusive, so your tent, sleeping bags and air mattresses are pre prepared for your arrival, our chefs will cook you a hearty breakfast every morning so your stomach is lined and a healthy, filling dinner every night. The Stoke Travel crew and guides will show you the party, both at our campsite and in the beer halls, and make sure you enjoy it. Our open and unlimited bar serves up German beer and Spanish sangria – as much as you want for only €10 a day.

Join us for as long as you want from April 18th to May 7th. We’ll be waiting for you in Munich.

  • Munich, Germany.

The Springfest grounds (Theresienwiese) are located in the centre of Munich. This is where you will find the beer halls, fun fair rides and glorious Bavarian food.

The Stoke campground is located only 20 minutes away from the madness. We head to the festival every day on cheap and easy public transport, which picks us up directly in front of the campsite and drops us into central Munich, all day every day. Our Stoke guides are there to get you into the party and point you in the direction of that beautiful Bavarian beer.

Once you’ve made it to Munich

    Metro directions to campsite
From Hauptbahnhof, or any Munich metro station, take the underground S2 towards Peterhausen and jump off at Untermenzing. Right outside the station hop on the 164 bus for three stops to Campingplatz Obermenzing. Just ask the driver or have a look on the bus route map. Jump off the bus and you’re at our doorstep. Too easy!

    Metro directions from the airport
It’s very easy to get to the campsite from Munich Flughafen airport. Follow the signs in the airport to the train station. Then take the S1 underground to Laim, at Laim change over to the S2 in the direction of Peterhausen, getting off at Untermenzing. You then head out of the station to the bus stop and take the 164 bus which stops at the camping grounds: Campingplatz Obermenzing.

    Actually getting to Munich

Check out GoEuro for the best rates on buses, trains, and flights around Europe.

Train it, of course its efficient.

All trains entering Munich come in to the city’s centrally-located main station (Hauptbahnhof), which is shared by the city’s rail and bus systems, providing connections to all destinations within the city and around the region. High-speed InterCity Express (ICE) trains from Hamburg, Frankfurt and Augsburg provide rapid service to Munich. The City Nightline (CNL) features comfortable sleeping quarters on its overnight services. The Deutsche Bahn has more than 25,000 miles of track, connecting all points in Germany, with international service as well. If your travel originates in the UK, British Rail has four daily scheduled trains to Munich and from Zurich, there is daily service on the train called the Bavaria. It’s very easy to get to the campsite from the train station, just follow the metro directions below.

    Buses are the bestest.

You can travel by bus to Munich from London, Paris and many other European cities. The largest bus operator from the UK to the continent is Eurolines, operating out of London’s centrally located Victoria Coach Station. In Paris, Eurolines is located on rue Malmaison, a 35-minute Metro ride from the centre. In Munich, bus services usually terminate at the Zentraler Busbahnhof, which you will find on the north side of the Hauptbahnhof. It’s very easy to get to the campsite from the bus station, just follow the metro directions below.

    Wicked campers

The most WICKED, literally, way to get to Oktoberfest is in a Wicked Campervan. We have reserved spots for Wicked vans within the campsite. Check out www.wickedcampers.co.uk
Please note that if you are coming by car, there is very limited parking at the campsite, so you will need to park down the road about a 1 minute drive away.

  • Questions and queries? Ask away. Enter in the Ask a Question tab and we will try to come up with something helpful here.

    What should I bring?
Warm clothes to sleep in, a pillow and torch for your tent, something awesome to party in, condoms (better safe than sorry) and a camera!

Do I need a separate ticket to enter the beerhalls?
Nope. You just turn up and drink! Your purchase with us gets you accommodation in our campground. And access to our bar (for €10 per day). And contact with our beautiful people (no extra fee).

Are there shuttles to and from Springfest?
No but our guides will take you on public transport so you don’t get lost, just don’t stray too far. We find that no matter how many steins one has consumed, miraculously most of our guests come back safe and sound. Munich’s cheap and easy buses and metro leave from the festival and takes you back to the campsite all day everyday.

Do you provide transport from Munich centre?
No, but getting around town is easypeasy thanks to Germany’s efficient transport system. Check out the ‘How to get there’ section for address and direction details.

Who do we see when we arrive?
Check in at Stoke Reception tent for your tent allocation and orientation. The reception is open weekday mornings at 9am until midnight and weekends, 8am until 1am.

    What is the breakfast like?
Breakfast is baconny and eggy and delicious. Sometimes there’s a pancake or two thrown in. Our chefs are very talented.

How many people can fit in the tents?
We have two-man tents and 7 man teepees. Just let us know your preferences on arrival and we’ll do our best to allocate you the tent you would like (subject to availability). If you’re a group of 3, one of you will be paired with a new friend of the same sex. For those anti-social humans, we offer private tents for a small additional fee. We understand our guests’ needs…… a little extra room for a special someone if the night leads there.

What amenities are offered at the camp site?
The campsite offers spacious bathrooms and hot showers for a 1€ token purchased at reception, restaurant/cafe, vending machines, the best Schnitzel food cart in the world and a little essentials store. WiFi and charging stations are available in certain areas and tokens are sold at the campsite reception for laundry facilities.

Where can we buy Lederhosen and Dirndls?
We sell traditional festival costumes – you can pre-order these or add them to your booking onsite, as well as awesomely stylish Stoke hoodies, tee- shirts, beanies and knick-knacks.

If we are camping does that mean we’ll be attacked by wild animals?
We serve unlimited alcohol at our camps. You, my friend, will be the wild animal.

    Where is Starbucks?
Near Haupthbhanof in Zentrum of Munich, there are plenty.

Do the tents have hot water, laptops, power-points, king size beds or fridges?
    They’re tents.

Does the bus come both ways on one side of the road?
    What the F$%# ?

    • lor says:

Spring fest was my first camping experience and it was awesome. The camp grounds were more fun than the festival. Unlimited beer and sangria and cool music, a lot of fun throw backs. Beer Pong was super fun and loosing was even funnier because you have to spin the wheel of embarrassment. The staff were incredible and pretty hot, especially Danny, Sash and Johno… Great people that are always willing to help you out, hang out and they all brought the party to life. (P.S. If you are a princess like me there were charging stations, wifi and outlets in the bathrooms to plug in hair stylers!) THE BEST WEEKEND!

    • Casey Ferguson says:

I was a solo traveller really nervous to come here by myself but ended up making some life long friends with the stokies. We got so drunk and was the best trip of my life.

Really good food, comfortable tents & friendly staff who came and partied in the beer hall with my group. Now planning our trip to Oktoberfest to do it again
